WHAT IS HA?

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan found in various tissues throughout the body, including the skin, joints, and eyes. It plays a crucial role in maintaining hydration and lubrication in these areas. Here are some key points about hyaluronic acid:1

What is HYDEAL-D®?

Hydeal-D® is the result of Fidia Farmaceutici’s research on hyaluronic acid, designed for female intimate wellness.
Hydeal-D® is a derivative of hyaluronic acid that, thanks to specific chemical-pharmaceutical modifications (partial esterification of carboxyl groups with benzyl alcohol), has adhesive properties and provides a moisturizing and consequently reparative function at the vaginal mucosa level. It is able to persist longer on the vaginal mucosa, thereby extending moisturizing and lubricating effects.

HYDEAL-D®

Hydeal-D® allows for a slow and continuous release of hyaluronic acid at the vaginal mucosa, enabling its hydration.
The modifications made to the hyaluronic acid molecule allow the Hydeal-D® derivative to achieve high resistance to the natural degradation of hyaluronic acid, carried out by specific enzymes present in the vaginal mucosa (called hyaluronidases).
Therefore, the degradation of Hydeal-D® occurs slowly, providing a continuous release of small chains of hyaluronic acid with moisturizing action at the vaginal mucosa (low molecular weight hyaluronic acid of 200 kilodaltons).

From disease to Treatment

Fidia bridges the gap between understanding disease mechanisms and clinical practice, providing healthcare professionals with science-based insights to support informed decisions and improve patient outcomes across a wide range of specialty care areas.
